The japanese research group found the new method of forming capillaries by ultrasonic irradiation on heart. The
results of this research can probablely help to treat angina.
Researchers used various ultrasound wave to irradiate endothelial cell cultured in laboratory, and found the
optimal irradiation conditions for creating blood vessels. They designed the experiment on a pig which suffered
from coronary heart disease, after ultrasound wave irradiated again and again in the given time, capillaries in
the ischemia area of heart proliferated, myocardial contractility and blood flow had been improved.
Angina is caused by coronary ischemia, chest pain is a typical experience to patients. Beside medical treatment,
heart bypass surgery is also often used, although about 10 % ~15 % of bypass operations end in death or
damage to the heart, kidneys or intestines.
At present, ultrasound technique has wide range of applications, with small burden on body, and safety is now
firmly established. The research team believes that this result may help to find new ways for the treatment of
angina pectoris, clinical trials have been carried out.
